About Us

We started in Rabbits in March of 2005, when Kim, of 6 Kids and a Hare, invited Cindy to go along with them to the Auglaize County RBA Spring Show in Wapakoneta. We had never even heard of an Open Rabbit Show, so Cindy said sure as John had to work that day. Cindy came home with our first three bunnies. From there, we have taken on various breeds as we work on deciding exactly what breed(s) we want to concentrate on.

We have decided to work on Mini Lops and Jersey Woolies breeds right now. Our first "home grown" grand champion is a mini lop chinchilla doe named Rogers' Chinny. She has been retired from the show circuit and her first offspring are starting to hold their own on the show table as juniors.

Our second "home grown" grand champion is a Siamese Sable Netherland Dwarf named Rogers' Harry after Harry Potter that John showed last year until he got interested in the Dwarf Hotots. At the request of two certain not to be named Netherland Dwarf breeder friends and a judge friend of ours, we have brought Harry out of his life of ease and put him back on the show table. He has responded in "grand" fashion winning BOS and BOB on back to back days over Labor Day weekend 2007 and BOS two weeks later.

Besides our rabbits, we have two grandchildren. The newest Rachel Ann was born on August 23, 2007, is the daughter of John's son, Matthew, and his wife, Melissa. August 23rd would have been Rachel's great grandmother's (John's mom) 93rd birthday. We are sure that John's mom is smiling down from heaven at her latest great grandchild. Rachel joined a brother, Andrew Louis, was born on April 4, 2005.

In December of 2008, we recieved a call from the State of Minnesota Department of Children's Services asking us if we would at least consider taking permanent custody of Cindy's great niece and her two great nephews. We discussed it and decided that, despite some fears that each of us expressed, it was the right thing to do. So on June 16, 2009, our family grew by three loving children; Skyla, age 5; Ely, age 4; and Caleb, age 3. The kids are terriffic children who have had an unbelievable life up until now. Skyla has already taken an interest in rabbits and has her own Himalayan which she has shown twice, receiving BOB on both occassions.
